Donkey Konga 2 Review PDF Print E-mail

As I mentioned in a previous posting, I bought a copy of Donkey Konga 2 to play on the Wii.  Donkey Konga 2 uses the GameCube Bongos that I got when Gamestop/EB Games was running the $9.99 special which included two sets of bongos.  It also supports playing with both bongos so this is a good reason to purchase.

Donkey Konga 2 is a lot of fun.  It is kinda of like Guitar Heroes except you use the bongos.  There are 25 included songs from REM's - Shinny Happy People, to Los Lobos (or other artists) - La Bamba.  Symbols scroll across the screen to tell you which side of the bongo to hit (or to clap).  There are only 4 different moves: right hit, left hit, both hit or clap.  There are also different modes where you can simply jam to a song or actually play for accuracy.

That being said, it is not particularly good for consideration to be included in a Wii workout.  Because you are playing with music, the bongo taping does not happen as fast as in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat where the bongo controls the players movement.  Maybe as I play more things will get faster.  Jungle Beat on the other hand is non-stop movement and action.

Donkey Konga 2 is definitely worth purchasing especially because it supports more than one bongo and is a fun game.
