Welcome to day #2 of the WorkoutWithWii - Wii Weight Loss Program. Today's workout was very interesting. I used a Pedometer provide to my by my sister in-law who is associated with Steps to a Healthier Florida. The Steps program aims to help citizens live longer, better, and healthier lives by reducing diabetes, overweight/obesity, and asthma and addressing three related risk factors - physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and tobacco use. For more information on the national Steps Program visit http://www.cdc.gov/steps. The pedometer results from my workout are as follows, during my whole 30 minute session I took 2717 steps which is an average of 435 steps per match. Using the Step Calculator on Step Diet Book website, I determined that I burned 1 calorie per 15 steps. That equates to burning 181 calories per 30 minute Wii workout or 29 calories per Wii Sport Game. I believe these calorie numbers are low because it does not take into account the upper body workout that is being done during these games. I think that would move it well over 200 calories burned per 30 minute workout. Here is the actual log from today's session: Wii Workout Day 2 - 30 min session
5 minutes of stretching (not counted in session minutes)
Wii Sports Tennis - 3 games - 15 minutes Game #1 - won 2-0 Steps = 460 Game #2 - won 2-0 Steps = 397 Game #3 - won 2-1 Steps = 494
At the end, my Mii's Skill Level was 446
Bowling - 1 game - 6 minutes - Another favorite although I think it is less aerobic
Jogged while bowling and took full bowling swing
Frame 1-5 right handed, 6-10 left handed to workout both sides (right is my dominant hand but actually did better with the left :-) ) Steps = 447 At the end my Mii's Skill Level was 1016
Boxing - 2 matches - 9 minutes
Match #1 - won in 3 rounds with KO Steps = 409 Match #2 - won in 3 rounds on Decision (won rounds 1 & 2) Steps = 510 At the end, my Mii's Skill level was 527
Total steps for the 30 minute workout = 2717 which is a 435 avg for each Wii game.
My next update will be either Friday or Saturday. At that point I will take the Wii Sports Fitness Test and post the results.
